Where to Find Inspirations as a Designer

A designer holds the immense task of innovating, creating, and thinking outside the barriers. Sometimes you just need some inspiration to see things in a different light. So where do you go, where do you search for that inspiring source?

If you find yourself in need of a new “go-to” list, here are some places to look that you may not have considered before…

Pinterest

This social sharing network just so happens to be an amazing resource for designers of all types to find inspiration. Pins around color, graphics, web design, interior design, landscaping, you name it! There is a design category, but you can type specifics in the search bar too.

YouTube

I know it’s all about video, but YouTube has become a visual search engine. If you love learning and being inspired through video, this is a great resource. You can watch other designers and learn their processes. You can look up collage videos and watch talks on brainstorming. You can view company’s inspiration boards and more.

Blogs

There are numerous and fantastic blogs online for designers. Some have tons of free resources you can download and use, while others offer more inspiration to design your own. You can also check out online galleries, stock photo sites, and forums.

 

Inspiration is all around in nature, in people, in objects, and buildings. Get out, observe, and enjoy life. Keep a notepad, sketchbook, or electronic capture with you at all times to mark down ideas that come to you. Be prepared and on the lookout for an outpouring of ideas.
